How 70-85% of People Get a Job

In my first weeks at Wharton, career services shared a surprising stat -

70-85% of jobs are filled by a referral from the hiring manager/team’s network.

This number certainly made sense before the internet. Job postings in newspapers helped spread the word, but with limited reach, it stood to reason that most jobs came through our network.

In the digital age, the warm referral is still king and queen.
